Christos Ikonomou was born in Athens in 1970. He is a short story writer, playwright, translator and creative writing teacher. His first short story collection, The Woman on the Rail, was published in 2003. His second collection of short stories, Something Will Happen, You’ll See (2010) was awarded the National Prize of Literature and the Prix Littéraire des jeunes Européens, and has been translated into English, French, Italian, German, Danish, Spanish, and Croatian. In 2014 he published the short story collection, Good will Come from the Sea, which has been translated into English, French and Italian. The French version was awarded the Le Point Magazine’s Coup de Coeur Award. His next book, The Daughters of the Volcano, was published in 2017. His work has been translated into ten languages in total, appeared in Greek and international anthologies such as Best European Fiction 2019 (Dalkey Archive Press), and has been adapted into feature films and plays.
