Athenian by birth, Yiannis Spandonis is a member of Journalists Union (ΕΣΗΕΑ). In 1983 he was awarded as the best new-appearing writer. 1984 got the first prize of “PARNASSOS” (ΠΑΡΝΑΣΣΟΣ Φ.Σ.) and in 1985 the first prize of National Society of Greek Literators (Ε.Ε.Ε.Λ.) and Rotary Club. As journalist is specialized in the Middle East. He has translated more than 120 works of literature, philosophy and politics for various publishers (he was awarded a special prize for his entire translating work by the Society of Greek Translators of Literature).
