Today, Monday, June 3, 2024, marks 100 years since the death of Franz Kafka, the German-speaking writer of Jewish origin who lived in what is now the Czech Republic. Among the most important works of the leading Czech writer of universal scope are the novella The Metamorphosis (1915) and the novels The Trial (1925), The Tower (1926) and America (1927).
