Επίσημο Παράρτημα του PEN International στην Ελλάδα
Catherine Fragou was born in Athens, studied French Literature in the University of Athens, Comparative Literature in Paris X Nanterre and Translation in Paris VII Jussieu. She had courses of History of Art and Sociology of Art at EHESS with Raymonde Moulin.
She created Iris Literary Agency in 1995 and represents Greek authors worldwide and international publishers in Greece.
She translates from French, especially children books and graphic novels and she has edited three short stories books with Kastaniotis editions, Editions Autrement and Buchet Chastel. Two of them were translated in French as they were commissioned by French publishers: Fragments Nouvelles et récits de Grèce, Editions Buchet Chastel 2019, Athènes, le sable et la poussière, Editions Autrement, 2004. She has been an agent for Greek painter artists when she used to live in Paris. Among them, Maro Michalakakos. She is always expanding her agency lately representing Greek authors for the Greek market and works on editing texts. http://www.irisliteraryagency.gr/en/index.php/about-us-en
I’m presenting Greek authors worldwide and foreign publishers and authors in Greece.
In 2018 Catherine Fragou wrote an article on the importance of the graphic novels https://kaleidoscope.gr/el/blog/tobhma-graphic-novel-2-2018-b1440.html
In 2019 Thessaloniki Book Fair Catherine Fragou presented her ideas as being an agent in a discussion titled, “Rights Acquisition: the role of the literary agent in shaping international trends,” between publishers, editors and agents from Croatia, Germany, Turkey and Greece.
I try to organize publication of Fragments Récits et nouvelles de Grèce in other countries, where other authors will write about Greece and the link to Greek identity.
Freedom of Speech Activities
I have been once in my life time in a trial, as a defense witness, for Austrian cartoonist Gerhard Haderer and his Greek publisher Oxy, who were pursued for Blasphemy from Greek Church.
