Fotini Tsalikoglou was born and raised in Athens. She staudied at the University of Geneva under Jean Piaget and specialized in Clinical Psychology.She is an  Emeritus Professor of  Psychology at the Panteion University in Athens. She is the author of  several novels including  The daughter of Anthi Alkaiou, I dreamed I was well, Eros pharmakopoios, Bertha s gift, All of the world’s Yes, I, Martha Freud, Mipos” (with M. Karapanou), 8 hours 35 minutes,  The moving (Move on Eurydice, translation by Mary Kitroeff), The Greek Patient, and a collection of short stories The strange stories of Mrs Fi.  Many of my novels have  been translated into several languages. Some of my novels have been performed on stage.

Scientific director of television documentaries on different issues related to social exclusion such as  womens prison, psychiatric wards, immigrants. My  actual  work (with cineaste Penny Pannayotopoulou) ‘’The magic of people’’ (Tο magiko ton anthropon) is about  life stories related to the human power of overcoming  loss, grief, and despair.

Professional awards

Her  novel 8 hours 35 minutes The Secret Sister (Εuropa Editions), translated by Μary Kitroeff, was included in World Literature Today’s list of notable translations for 2015.

The Italian version, La sorella segreta, translated by Maurizio de Rosa, won Greece’s National Award for Literary Translation.
