Dimitra Pyrgeli
She lives, dreams, and works in her bookshop in Xanthi, northeast Greece. She broadcasts her weekly story-telling programme on Radio Xanthi 93,5 FM, and visits schools to recount fairy tales, hence nurturing a special bond with society’s most curious and free-spirited individuals: children. Her very first public (and published) venture into the world of fairy tales was Santa’s Little Boot, to be followed by Captain in the Bathtub, Short Stories about our Big World, Two Siblings and the Moon, the short story “Without a Blemish”, that appeared in the collection The Greece that I Love – Macedonia, Travel with Me, the short story “The Teacher who Aligned the Future”, in the edited collection Unforgettable Homelands –Asia Minor-Pontus, “Humans Endure”, in Seas that Unite Us, the tale of Granddad Felix, and the short stories “Rose sprouts a thorn, and thorn sprouts a rose” and “Sower of freedom”. She has also transliterated into Greek Tracey Corderoy’s The Boy and the Bear, and published the short story “A Magical town … My town”. She vows to, lovingly and passionately, continue creating beautiful stories and to carry, young and old alike, away into the mesmerizing world of fairy tales!
