Eleni Priovolou
Mrs Eleni Priovolou was born in a small village in the mid-west of Greece, called Aggelokastro, near historical town of Mesologgi. She lived there till the end of high school and then she moved to Athens for studies, where she studied Political Sciences at Panteion University. She has been widely known for the eurythmy and the purity in her writing. She started off writing her stories using symbols to best express her thoughts on modern life and society. She loves kids and through her books and writing, she has always been trying to unlock the sensitive children’s soul and world. Up till now, she has published 23 books for kids and young people, 8 books for adults, one novel and a collection with stories. Sha has also participated in a collective volume called “Θερινοί Έρωτες” (“Summer Loves”, Kastaniotis Editions, 2021). In 2009 she won the “Best Book for Adolescents” Award, run by the Magazine “Diavazo”, for her book “Το σύνθημα” (“The signal”, 2009). In 2010, she won the Readers’ Award under the National Book Centre of Greece for her adult book “Όπως ήθελα να ζήσω” (“The way I wanted to live”, Kastaniotis Editions, 2009). In 2021 she won the State Award for her children’s book “Φως σε Μαύρο Ουρανό” (“Light in Black Sky, 2021). The same book has been included amongst the best 200 books for young people in the International Youth Library in Munich, while the same time has been added in the honorary 2022 list of the International Board on Books for Young People (iBbY).
