Tessy Baila is a Greek writer. She was born in Piraeus. She studied Greek Cultural History and Literary Translation. She did postgraduate studies in Literature at the University of Western Macedonia. He appeared in Greek Literature in 2009. She has published novels with historical and social content: The Portrait of Silence (Enastron), The Tale of Rain (Dokimakis), and by Psychogios pubications the following: The Secret Was in the Sugar, Whiskey Blue, Wild Seas, Playing with Shadows at night, Call Me Ishmael. Her novel Call Me Ishmael was shortlisted for the 2023 State Novel Prize. Her short stories and articles have been translated into Italian, Spanish, Bulgarian and Turkish. She also works as a literary translator for prestigious publishing houses. She has collaborated with online literary magazines and her book reviews are regularly published in the newspaper The Kathimerini on Sunday. She is editor of the literary magazine Klepsydra and editor-in-chief of Literature.gr. She works in photography and her solo exhibitions have been held at Gakugei University in Japan and in Athens. She is a founding member and served as G. Secretary of the Association of Writers and Friends of Literature PEN Greece, the official Greek branch of PEN International, from December 2021 to January 2025.
