Giannis I. Pappas was born in Halkiades of Arta in 1962. He graduated from the 1st high school of Toumpa in Thessaloniki. He holds a degree in philology from the University of Ioannina. He attended classes of Italian language and literature at the University of Perugia and the University of Bari in Italy for two years. Since 1990 he has worked as a philologist in secondary education.

He’s been a co-director in the literary magazine Elitrohos in Patras (1993-1999). From 2002 to 2014, he served as president of the Union of philologists of Patras. Also, since 2003 he’s been publishing and managing the online literary magazine Diapolitismos (www.diapolitismos.net).

 He’s completed his PhD at the University of Ioannina on the writings of Andreas Fraghias.

He’s translated many Italian poets (Pavese, Ungaretti, Montale, Penna, Anedda, De Angelis, Pasolini)

He’s a member of the Writers’ Affiliation and the Poets’ Circle.
