Eva Stamou
Eva Stamou is a writer and a Dr. of Psychology. Her work includes five novels -Eligmoi (Odos Panos, 2004), Decaffeine (Odos Panos, 2005), Addiction (Melani, 2011), The Excursion (Armos, 2016), Somatography (Armos, 2024)–three collections of short stories–Noon Encounters (Melani, 2009), The Laughing Girls (Armos, 2018), The Visit (Armos, 2022)–and has edited the collection From Gender to Gender (Athens Voice, 2022). Her monograph Ageing and Female Identity in Midlife is published by Scholars’ Press (2013) and her essay The Deluge of Pink Literature is published by Gutenberg (2014). Her novel The Excursion has been translated into Arabic and her short story collection The Laughing Girls has been translated into Italian. Her short stories have also been translated into English, French, Danish, and Lithuanian. The collection Noon Encounters was nominated for the 2010 Readers’ Award. As a Dr. of Psychology, she offers individual and group psychotherapy. She has worked, among other places, at Bootham Psychiatric hospital and at the Centre for the Treatment of Adolescents with Mental Disorders in York, UK. She has also provided psychotherapy to international refugee rescue crews on the East Aegean islands, focusing on bereavement and post-traumatic stress disorder. Her articles are published in the Athens Review of Books, Book Press, fractal, and Odos Panos magazine. She is an opinion columnist for Athens Voice.
